Traces of a Ringing Madness

Photograph by Bronia Sawyer

I tell you.
split the book, break the spine, tear out the first page
and the last.

If the ink
never sees the light of day, the word will
remain unread.

Never to diminish
or watch the flick of paint
scrape away.

In a way we are
away, paths entwined,
resolute.

Where we start, we know the words,
at a loss, at a loss.
