mysteryons iv, v

If I could
spin you around an axis,

Where would you fall?

Snow-capped knee.
The angle of the sheet

sloping toward the hip.
Your vibrations come from

our whispered voices.
The wind is not at your back.

Your wife comes home:
pirouettes around the bed.
pas de bourree behind the couch.

These are places you cannot lay your head.

He says,
“She had it coming to her.”

Breaks the porcelain peak
pulls the sheet thin-

“I can see where you are bound”;
wrist to wrist.
ankle to ankle.

pas de trois, adagio.
